Between the emerald Cangshan Mountains and glistening Erhai Lake lies Zhoucheng, hailed as the homeland of tie-dye.
For generations, Bai women here treat plain cotton cloth as blank canvas. With meticulous stitching and binding techniques, they stitch fragments of the sky above Erhai, soft cloud shapes and lake’s tranquil blue deep into every thread of fabric. This craft carries the scenery they witness each day, preserved inside cloth forever.
